8 oz butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
grated rind of 2 lemons
cup flour
handful of poppy seeds
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
½ cup sugar dissolved in juice of 2 lemons
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beat well. Add lemon
rind. Sift dry ingredients, add alternately with the milk. Pour into 3
medium loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees about 45-60 minutes. Turn from
pan to cake racks. Drizzle lemon-sugar mixture over loaves.
